Nel parlato informale get sostituisce spesso be, soprattutto quando succede qualcosa di improvviso o negativo.
- My phone got stolen. (= was stolen)
- They got married last year.
- He got fired.
Quando si usa
- Eventi inattesi o sgradevoli: I got hurt.
- Cambiamenti di stato: get married, get dressed, get lost.
Attenzione
È informale: nella scrittura formale si usa be.
E non funziona con i verbi di stato: The house got owned by my uncle non si dice.
Con get le domande e le negazioni tornano a usare do, perché get è un verbo normale: Did you get invited?, non Were you get invited?
