La scelta segue le stesse regole di some e any nel capitolo sulla quantitĂ .
| Forma | Dove |
|---|---|
| some- | affermative, offerte, richieste |
| any- | negative e domande |
| no- | frase affermativa con senso negativo |
| every- | totalitĂ |
- I have something to tell you.
- Is there anything I can do?
- There's nothing here.
- Everything is ready.
Due modi per la stessa cosa
La negazione si può mettere sul verbo o sul pronome, mai su entrambi:
- I saw nobody. â
- I didn't see anybody. â
- I didn't see nobody. â
Attenzione
à di nuovo la doppia negazione. In italiano non ho visto nessuno è corretto e ha due negazioni; in inglese una sola.
E any- in frase affermativa significa qualunque: You can ask anybody. â chiunque, non "qualcuno".
