- I was walking home when it started to rain.
"While" e "when"
- While introduce di solito l'azione lunga: While I was cooking, the phone rang.
- When introduce di solito quella breve: I was cooking when the phone rang.
Due azioni parallele
Se entrambe erano in corso, vanno entrambe al continuous: She was reading while he was cooking.
Attenzione
- When she arrived, I made coffee. → l'ho fatto dopo che è arrivata.
- When she arrived, I was making coffee. → lo stavo già facendo.
