Alcuni aggettivi comuni non seguono nessuna regola.

"Further" o "farther"
Farther solo per la distanza fisica; further per la distanza e anche in senso figurato: further information, further details.
Attenzione
Good e well si confondono spesso, ma il comparativo è lo stesso: better vale sia per l'aggettivo sia per l'avverbio.
- The food is better here. → aggettivo.
- She sings better than me. → avverbio.
